Fruit Leather

Fruit Leather

Dehydrated fruit leather is the most amazing treat. It’s sweet. So simple to make. And so worth it. I’ve used strawberries, blueberries and plan to make a batch with raspberry tonight. All you need is a food processor and a few ingredients.

In the processor, blend the berries of your choice (about 2-3 cups) and the juice of 1/2 a lemon (or a whole lemon, your preference). I added about 2-3 tablespoons of honey but again, taste as a you go. It will be a bit watery but trust the process.

Pour it onto your silicone mat. It should be thick enough to hold its shape and not drip over the sides but still watery enough to spread across the mat.

Dehydrate at 145 until it’s completely dry. In my case that was about 8 hours.

You know it’s done when you touch it and nothing sticks to your finger. You should be able to easily pull the fruit leather from the silicone mat and cut, wrap or just enjoy! I wrap them in a parchment paper and store in a glass jar. They should last 3-5 days but probably won’t.

These are a delicious fruity snack we can’t keep stocked in our pantry. They are too good. And better for you than what you’re getting at the store. We hope you give this one a try.

Note: if you don’t have a dehydrator, I’ve read there are oven options. Can’t say I’ve tried it but it might be worth a google search.
